This is a pretty waterfall to stop and see on your way to Blue Hole. Â The parking area is roadside, and is just a little dirt turn off with enough space for a couple of cars. Â You can view the waterfall from the bridge on Route 42/Peekamoose Rd., and there is also a short, easy […]
This is a medium sized town beach on the Hudson River. Â It appears to have a lifeguard at certain times, though it wasn’t staffed while we were there. Â People were swimming, though since this location is on the Hudson so you might encounter debris in the water. Â The water quality was green and silty, and […]
We were told that this is a popular swimming hole, and we did see swimmers here. Â There are signs posted along the bank though, so we walked up the creek bed. Â We aren’t sure if the owner enforces the trespassing ban, or if the signs are just there for liability reasons, as this is a […]
This was a popular swimming hole when we came here years ago.  However, this time it was raining and no swimmers were present, so we aren’t sure if people still swim here.  It is currently posted as “No Trespassing” on one side of the bridge, but not the other, and we are unclear on the current […]
This is a gorgeous waterfall that can be viewed from the bridge crossing Esopus Creek. The spillway is part of the Ashokan reservoir and is off limits with “No Trespassing” signs posted, so this is a “See” location. It is still worth a stop to view the fall, and the water is so clear that […]
This is a “See” location and is not safe for swimming. Â Multiple people have died here, so even if you see others in the water please know that this is not a safe area, and it is only for viewing. This is a park of sorts, though it isn’t clear which pathways are open […]
This is a sprawling town park with rolling hills and forest trails, and multiple activities to enjoy.  The park has mini golf, paddle boats, swimming, camping, and other sports available.  We saw a lot of people enjoying the walking trails, and the park is very pretty and spacious.  The swimming area is medium sized, with […]
This is a popular area with a fun “beach party” sort of atmosphere. Â There are lovely views of rolling hills, and a massive sand beach with lots of activities. Â There is a large roped off swimming area, multiple lifeguard stations, sports area, paddle boats, restrooms, concessions, large parking lot, picnic area, camping. Â No dogs allowed. […]
This is a medium sized town park on the Hudson, with a swimming beach and boat launch. There is a small picnic area, and what appear to be walking trails leading off from it. Go straight after passing the entrance booth and you’ll come to the waterfront area where you’ll see the parking, picnic area, […]
This is a little confusing because it is Washington’s town park, but is actually in Milbrook or Mabbettesville. Â It is quite large for a town park, with two waterslides and multiple swim areas, a floating dock, concession stand, restrooms, and lifeguard. Upper pool seems to have paddle boats. No dogs allowed. http://www.towrecreation.com/park-information.html
