Rumney Falls

Update 8/20:  We have received complaints from local homeowners about people crossing over private property to access this location.  This is illegal and can cause the closure of swimming locations, not just at the specific location but throughout a town. So please, respect people’s land and do not go anywhere posted. Also, remember, respect the swimming location, don’t litter and pick up trash if you can.

If you’re on Main St. in Rumney, head towards Stinson Lake Road.  Main St. ends and curves to the left to become Stinson Lake Road, and at this transition you want to take the dirt road that goes straight.  The dirt road is just past the Rumney Baptist church.  There are lots of “No Parking” signs on this road, except for a small section where the seem to allow it.  This location seems like it might be shut down in the future though, as we got the sense that the locals were annoyed with the crowds. There were a lot of people during our visit, but there is a chance this is private property.  There are hand written signs asking people to pick up their trash, so please be respectful and clean up after yourself.

Rumney Falls is a very pretty waterfall, with emerald green water.  The area that is deep enough to swim in is small, and people are continually jumping from the rocks, so there really isn’t that much “swimming” to be had.  You could sit in the pools below the falls though.
