Lakewood Pond

The street sign for Lakewood Pond Road is blue and says “PVT” but the day use area is here and it is part of Acadia National Park, so you are allowed to be here.  There are two parking areas right by each other, one larger than the other.  This area is not staffed, and dogs seem to be allowed.  Outhouses are available.

There is a small beach providing access to the pond, and the area is lovely and secluded.  The water is  clear, and a pretty jade hue near shore.  There aren’t ropes, so it is open swimming, and people were making their way out to the middle of the pond.

Dogs are allowed in many areas of Acadia, but dogs must always be on a leash. Here is more information on dogs in the park:
