Cedar River

This location is easy to find as it is just at the end of Benton road. Go past the cemetery, and where the road turns to dirt there will be a handwritten sign saying, “Blue Mountain” ahead.

This is a gorgeous swimming hole, that has a very special feeling about it.  We have heard that this location is popular on weekends, but there was no one there when we visited, and it was very peaceful.  There is a large sand parking area and there aren’t any signs about trespassing, so we only assume that it is okay to be here.  There is a large deep pool with rocks on far side, a sand bar and small sand beach, and a little fall flowing into pool.  The water is deep tannic, and mostly black.  We noticed large amounts of foam flowing down the river, which indicates that there may be a larger fall upstream.
