Lake Minnewaska
Minnewaska State Park maintains two swimming areas, one on Lake Minnewaska, and one on Lake Awosting. These areas have been under renovation (and according to some sources, closed because of leeches), so we were not able to visit them. Information can be found on these sites:

However, if you enter at the Awosting Falls entrance on route 44/55, and continue driving up the road, you’ll reach an upper parking lot overlooking Lake Minnewaska. From here, if you follow the trail to the left you’ll see a lookout point on your right, and you can see a path down to a concrete platform that sits on the lake. This might be the swimming area, but would also be a good place to picnic.
