Robert H. Treman State Park/Lucifer Falls

This is a stunning park, with two main attractions.  The first is the swimming area, which is at the base of a large waterfall.  The other is Lucifer falls, a 115 ft. waterfall that falls into a ravine.

Our map shows where the official swimming area is, from the pin (the parking lot) it’s just a five minute walk to the swimming spot and lower falls. There is a platform to view the falls, and a pebble beach to lounge on.  The swimming hole has a 30 ft. cascading waterfall feeding into it, and it is one of our favorite “official” swimming locations. The water is clear and clean, and the surrounding park is well maintained.  There were no lifeguards during our visit, but we aren’t sure if this is always the case.

On the other side of the park is the impressive Lucifer Falls (use the GPS coordinates provided). To get there from the main entrance, take a left on Rte. 327 for 2.7 miles, then take another left onto Upper Park Road. Park at the end of the road and take the cliff staircase to the bottom of the falls. When we were there quite a few people were in the water, climbing around and playing in the pools. It’s a really beautiful park, and one of the best that we’ve seen.
