Pratt Rock Area

We found this location by chance, and it is just down the road from Pratt Rock, which is a rather unique tourist destination, that you can read about here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pratt_Rock

From the entrance to Pratt Rock, follow Route 23 towards Prattsville and in less than a mile you’ll go over a bridge, where you can see the water and swimming area to your left. Park on the left hand side in the overgrown parking lot, just past where you see the dam.

This is a beautiful location, and definitely a local swimming hole.  We don’t know the safety or legality of swimming here, so be cautious and ask a local if you decide to visit.  We saw quite a few people playing in the water or hanging out on the flat rocks by the shore, but this might not always be the case.  The water is a deep turquoise, and flows from a small dam into a large pool.  We don’t know the legal status of swimming here, but it seemed to be openly and freely used.  Always stay very far away from dams, even low ones like the one here, as they can pull you underwater.
