Vernooy Falls

THIS AREA HAS A LARGE RATTLESNAKE POPULATION- please hike carefully, and avoid putting your hands in between rocks.  Snakes like to sun themselves on flat rocks and trails, so remain alert.  This location is remote and does not have a ranger station.

We parked at the very beginning of the trailhead, but the road to here is very, very, rough.  You can park at the start of the rough road where the park begins, but the hike will be longer and steeper.  The hike from where we parked was an easy walk of about a mile, though muddy in some areas. The trail leads from a small camp area with a fire pit at the top of Trail End Rd, and is obvious.

At the location there is a waterfall flowing into a small pool, which is probably 5-6 ft at deepest.  There are upper pools if you want to make the hike up the sides, but this would be difficult.

The printed coordinates on the side of the page are for the parking area, and the map shows where the swimming spot is (+41 52.342, -74 22.235).
