High Falls, Titusville

This is a large cascading waterfall with some intense rapids right before it.  After the falls it opens up into a pool where you can lie down right into the waterfall. I was told there were some more places to swim downstream, but with lack of time in the day I only came to High Falls.

From Mountain View, NY travel north on Co Hwy 27 for about a mile, on your left you’ll see Barnsville Rd. it’s a dirt road that can get a little rough and you’ll want to be on it for a little over half a mile.  Pull over to the side of the road a little before you get to the bridge (which is out).  The trail to High Falls will be north of the river and you’ll follow the river downstream. The hike should be about 15-20 minutes and you’ll want to follow the blue markers, it’s a easy trail to follow and very gorgeous, it seemed untouched and made me geek out a little reminding me of something from Middle Earth. For the most part the river looks like a nice slow moving river that you could lazy river tube down to the fall, but you’d want to make sure you got out before the falls because it turns from slow moving tranquil river to dangerous rapids very quickly.
