Cumberland Bay State Park

This park is part of the same shore as Plattsburg Town Beach, but the state park has more shady picnic areas and grass, and it is quieter. It has a huge sandy beach that is connected to the town beach with no barriers.  We like supporting state parks so that they stay funded, and it seems to get less business than the town park next door, so we would recommend paying the day use fee here.  That way you can their beach and swim area, and then walk over to the town beach if you like more options for roped swimming. We saw people swimming outside the ropes and no one seemed to care.   Lots of picnic space right on the water and much quieter and more peaceful than the town one.
