Douglas State Forest, Wallum Lake
The park was very crowded during our visit, but we were here on Father’s Day. The amount of picnic tables and shelters indicate that it might be popular in general though, so arriving early would be wise. There is a large swimming area with double lifeguard stands and a sand beach. The park also has walking trails available.
We didn’t see any signs prohibiting pets, and they let us through with a dog, but we didn’t see any in the park either. We were going to ask on our way out, but the attendant was gone. So, we recommend calling first, as they may only be allowed on the hiking trails.
