Auger Falls

There are two trails you can take at this location, and they sort of meet in a loop- but the trail gets sparse and disappears for a ways, and we don’t really recommend doing the loop.

To get to the swimming area- follow the left trail/small road from the parking lot, and in a couple of minutes you’ll find a small clearing with a narrow trail heading towards the river. Follow the river downstream and there is a little clearing with a fire pit and sand beach. People swim here in the pool at the bottom of a small fall. You can choose to continue to follow the river downstream to the large chasm fall, but the trail is non-existant in parts and there is some bush whacking. If you do this make sure you are well clear of the ledges and be careful.

To see the falls- take the right hand trail from the parking lot, which is fairly clearly marked in yellow.  You follow this down until you hear the falls, and then cut over towards them, just a little off the trail. The ground around the falls is pine needle covered and without a lot of bush or bracken, so it is easy to see your way to the gorge. Pine needles are slippery though, so exercise extreme caution, as you would likely not survive a fall from here.  We saw multiple hikers leave the trail to find the chasm, so it seemed like everyone spotted it easily enough.
