River Road Rope Swing

We found this spot by chance, on our way to visit Bear Slide.  This is a steep little jumping spot on the Hudson with a rope swing and board ladder going up the tree. Tree root steps lead down to the rope swing.  We couldn’t judge the quality of the water or the depth, or the safety of jumping. You can also go down to a very small bank and swim from there.

There is a small parking area on the left and a hard to see sign denoting the area as state land. There isn’t much in the way of landmarks around here so just keep your eye out for a break in the trees and the rope, which you can see from the road. No swimmers present, but it was raining.  This is a popular fishing spot as well, so make sure you’re not disturbing the fish if they arrive first. Also take care to not jump into a lure, as the fishermen might be down on the bank
