Awosting Falls, Minnewaska
Awosting falls is part of the Minnewaska State Park, which is a popular tourist destination. It is a spectacular fall, one of the most picturesque in the state. The falls can be accessed off of route 44/55 where you’ll see a sign for Minnewaska State Park. There is a parking lot beside the entrance point, and from there it is a short walk down a wide carriage road to the bottom of the falls. Swimming is prohibited in the falls, and enforced. We did see people swimming there mid week in May, but this is against park policy. The people you see swimming in the pictures are actually the crew for a Bear Grylls’ show, who were repelling down the waterfall.
