We don’t know if this is a private park or a town park, as it was closed when we were there, but they do have a day use fee and you don’t have to stay there to use the beach. Â They have cabin rentals and RV parking, as well as a restaurant and ice cream […]
There are two parking lots on opposite sides of the road, and you want to look for the trail that leads from the north side parking lot. Â This trail is marked along the way, but it is the widest trail, and many of the smaller trails lead back to it. Â Follow the markings though. Â The […]
We actually messed up in documenting this location for you guys, because it was so nice when we arrived that we decided to take the day and enjoy it. Â The next day, of course, it was raining, so our pictures really don’t do it justice. This was a great little campsite beach, and it is […]
We once again got caught in the rain while shooting here, but this park has a small swimming area, and a medium sized beach. Â The picnic area is very pretty, and has nice views across the lake. Â There are also boat, canoe, and kayak rentals available. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/24458.html http://newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/caroga-lake-campground/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NY&parkId=627
This park is part of the Owen D. Young Central School, and you can park behind the school, and follow the trailhead from the lot. Â From the lot, you cross over a small bridge, and there is an outhouse and small picnic area, and the trail continues from there. Â The school allows public access, and […]
This is a purported swimming area, downstream of a covered bridge called Salisbury Center Bridge. Â There is parking on both sides of the covered bridge, but we don’t think you can drive a car over the bridge. Â The creek was flowing very fast when we were here, and swimming wouldn’t have been safe at this […]
This park has a REALLY large swimming area, and very clean.  This is one of the better state park beaches, and would be a nice place to spend the day.  This is a spacious park with a lot of picnic areas, concessions, and multiple lifeguards.  It was starting to rain when we were there, but we […]
There is a small parking lot/pull off area right where the river meets Peckville Rd. Â This seems to be a park that is no longer maintained. Â Right near the parking area there is a good sized waterfall with a pool below, but we couldn’t find a path to it, and with little time to explore, […]
There is a sign for Yatesville Falls but it is small- the better landmark is a larger sign that says “Three Ponds” and is across the street from the road going to Yatesville Falls. Â Follow the dirt road about 1.3 miles to the end. The road ends in a parking area, and the falls are […]
This campground has a small swimming beach, and the campsites were a little crowded. Â We didn’t find it to be one of the better campgrounds, but the nearby John Boyd Thacher State Park is a must see. http://www.nysparks.com/parks/99/details.aspx http://nysparks.com/parks/128/
