Popham beach is one of the most popular beaches in Maine, and it is one of our favorites. It has a massive sand beach, and since the parking lot is relatively small, it never feels too crowded. It does fill up early on weekends though, and there is often a line of cars waiting. The […]
This is a decent sized beach, but provides only a small swimming area (which they are strict about). When we were there, only one lifeguard was on duty, so they cut the already small swimming area down to half. The water was clean and clear and there are some nice views from the beach.
This is a gorgeous park with a series of waterfalls and creeks to explore. There is an official swimming area where they have dammed off a part of the river. The walk along the falls is easy, and very picturesque, with stone bridges and staircases. http://nysparks.com/parks/118/details.aspx
This is a lovely beach with a hilly approach and expansive view. There were no lifeguards or buoys when we were there, but swimming is allowed according to their website, and there is a sign saying no swimming when lifeguards are off duty. http://nysparks.com/parks/129/amenities-activities.aspx
This park has very pretty facilities, and they host weddings and other events. There is a large swim area with multiple lifeguards, and a large beach. The water is turquoise in color, and seems very clear and clean. http://nysparks.com/parks/56/details.aspx
This park has a swimming area and a small sand beach. There was a town graduation party when we were there, so it was too weird for us to take a lot of pictures, but there is a nice playground and grass area.
Watkins Glen is one of the most famous parks in New York, and for good reason. The trails follow a gorge with multiple waterfalls, and weaves in and out of small caves and falls. It is one of the most beautiful places we visited. This trail is very wet, and you should wear shoes that […]
This park is stunning. It contains two very tall (200ft) falls, Taughannock Falls and Upper Falls, a smaller Lower Falls and a swimming beach on Cayuga Lake. The pin on the map is set to the parking area and trail head, while the GPS coordinates are to Taughannock Falls. The trail from the parking area […]

This is a really cute little swimming area on a bridge bisecting Long Lake. The buoys weren’t set up, so we couldn’t evaluate it fully, but it has pretty views and nice landscaping. http://mylonglake.com/what-2-do/swimming/
