Collins Park

This park was closed when we were here, so unfortunately our pictures are from outside the fence.  This is a very large town park, with a lot in the area.  There is a boat launch, swimming beach, drive-in restaurant, sports fields, and a couple different pavilions and picnic areas. One section is on Collins Lake, […]

Reichards Lake, Raquet Lake, Town of Sand Lake Beach

You apparently need a permit to visit this beach if you are not a resident, which we did not know.  We got kicked out after taking a few pictures. To get a permit you have to go to the Town Clerk’s Office, which is only open Monday through Friday, from 9am-4pm.  The address below is […]

Cherry Plain State Park

There is a medium to large sand beach, with a large swim area.  The water is tannic water with a sandy bottom. This is a nice beach, though they only had one swim area open even though it was a Sunday.  This seems to be a fairly popular area, so the water was crowded with […]

Grafton Lake State Park

This beach is EXTREMELY crowded on weekends.  It feels more like a New York City beach in that way.  Large swimming area and sand beach, shaded picnic area, large facilities building. http://www.nysparks.com/parks/53/details.aspx

Shelving Rock Falls

Our GPS coordinates were taken at the falls.  Along the road you will see state park signs, and you want to follow the ones for “Shelving Rock Falls.” If you are coming from the south you’ll see a sign marked “Shelving Rock Falls Trail” followed by a small bridge.  The parking lot is the first […]

Haviland Cove Beach

This is a small town beach that seems to be very popular with families with children.  There is a medium sized swimming area on the Hudson, with a sand beach and surrounding picnic areas.  There seems to be a kayaking launch as well.  You can see that upstream there is a rope swing on the […]

Shepard Park, Lake George

This park doesn’t seem to be as popular as the nearby Million Dollar Beach, so in some ways it is nicer as it seems like a more low key place to bring young children.  The swimming area is a straight away along the shore so you could do some laps, but there is less of […]

Rogers Memorial Park

This is a cute little town beach on Lake George, with tennis courts and a picnic area.  There is a dock and a nice walkway with a gazebo.  This park is small, but has the same pretty sand beach and turquoise water you’ll find on Lake George. http://www.boltonchamber.com/bolton-landing-parks.asp

Lake George Million Dollar Beach

This is an exceptional state park, when you enter it almost feels like you’re going to the Caribbean. There is turquoise water by the shore, and a clear delineation of cobalt blue water as the lake becomes deeper.  There are concessions, bathrooms and  showers, and a large beach with multiple lifeguard stations and swimming areas. […]

Lake George Dog Beach

Coming from downtown Lake George, this little beach is just before Million Dollar beach. Same sand same great views as Million Dollar Beach, but you can bring your (well behaved) dog here.  This beach is right beside the main road, so don’t plan on bringing dogs who aren’t trained to stay beside you.  There is […]
