They have a small sand beach and shallow lake swimming. There are cliffs on either side of the beach, and you can see people hiking along the top. They have nice facilities and pretty views, so it would be a good place to relax and spend the day. http://www.acadiamagic.com/echo-lake.htm
There is a small parking lot off of Route 3, and the beach is directly across the road. This is a large sand and pebble beach, with open swimming and a diving platform. The beach is less crowded than the nearby Sand Beach, and offers a more relaxing place to spend the day. There are […]
This is a beautiful beach, and one of the most famous in Maine. There is a large sand beach surrounded by cliffs, and the water is a stunning turquoise blue. As part of Acadia National Park, there are numerous areas to explore, and the beach is close to many hiking trails. Nearby Bar Harbor has […]
We didn’t see anyone swimming, and we aren’t sure if you are allowed to or not. There is a small sign saying “no swimming off dock” which implies that you can swim elsewhere. There are beautiful expansive views, and picnic tables overlooking the water. little shade, outhouses. The water seems fairly clear, and there is a […]
The street sign for Lakewood Pond Road is blue and says “PVT” but the day use area is here and it is part of Acadia National Park, so you are allowed to be here. There are two parking areas right by each other, one larger than the other. This area is not staffed, and dogs seem to […]
They have a medium sized pebble/sand beach and swimming area. There is a shaded picnic area and playground. This is a nice place to swim and close to Belfast which has great restaurants and shopping. Dogs are allowed but not on the beach. http://www.ohranger.com/me/swan-lake
On Google if you just enter “Sandy Beach” it will direct you to a road that doesn’t have public access. To get to the park you will want to take the road marked “Boat Launch Drive,” which is off of Happytown Road. Take the gravel road to end and follow signs for the beach. Parking is alongside […]
The beach is in downtown Lincolnville, just off of Route 1, so there is easy access to restaurants and shops. They have a medium sized sand beach with ocean swimming, and pretty views of sailboats. Parking is on the road running beside the beach, and there are port-a-potties available. We didn’t see any signs prohibiting dogs, […]
The park is on a steep hill leading down to the ocean, so it can be difficult to spot from the road. Just go slowly and keep your eye out for the grass lawn and parking loop. This is a great little park, with remarkable views of the bay. There is a playground, swimming platform, and […]
This is sort of an unusual swimming area, and it is great that they let people use it. There is a medium sized pool, with dark reedy water and a fenced dam that flows into a small stream. Parking is in the dirt pull off just beside the water. There is a house across the […]
