Cedar Point State Park

This location has emerald water and a pretty peninsula for sitting, but the beach is small and the swimming area is medium sized.  The marina is right next to the beach, and there is very little unoccupied space on the weekend.  The campsites were very crowded, and there isn’t much parking for the day use […]

Alexandria Bay Town Beach

This is a tiny town park, but very picturesque.  It is within walking distance of downtown Alexandria, which is a popular tourist destination with lots of restaurants and shops to explore.  The beach has turquoise water and is adjacent to a small park with a bridge to a tiny island.  This is more of a […]

Robert Moses Thousand Island State Park, St. Lawrence State Park

This park is a little confusing, but it isn’t hard to find your way.  According to the map the swimming beach is actually located in St. Lawrence State Park, but it seems to be run by the nearby Robert Moses Thousand Island State Park.   There is also another park in New York called Robert […]

Lisbon Beach and Campground

This is a town run beach and campground on Marty Ryan Way off of Route 37.  The RV park detracts from the area a little bit, but it is separate and a little ways back from the beach.   Overall the beach area is very nice, and has great views.  The swimming area is medium […]

Kring Point State Park

This is a very scenic area for camping.  It is on a peninsula, with large rock outcroppings sloping into the water, and wonderful views. The beach is a little small though, and the swimming area is medium sized and shallow.  However, it did look like a lot of people were swimming and using floats off […]

Jacques Cartier State Park

This park has a large playground and a medium/large swim area and beach. There is an unusual terraced picnic area, which is very pretty.  We found the park to be fairly quiet even on a Saturday. http://www.stateparks.com/jacques_cartier.html http://parks.ny.gov/parks/114/details.aspx

Howard Park, Waddington

This is a town park with exceptional views of the St. Lawrence River, and is all around just a lovely area to spend the day.  There is a medium sand beach, a swimming area with clear blue water, and a playground.  One of the prettiest town parks that we visited. http://www.townofwaddington.com/recreationparks.html

Coles Creek State Park

This state park has a sand beach and a small swimming area.  The campsites surround the beach, which makes the area feel a little close and too crowded.  There are pretty views of the St. Lawrence River though, and you can see Canada across the water. http://www.nysparks.com/parks/72/details.aspx

Cranberry Lake Campground

This is a state park with a small swimming area and sand beach.  While the beach area itself isn’t exceptional, you do get stunning views of Cranberry Lake.  This area seems to be popular with kayakers and boaters. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/24460.html http://newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/cranberry-lake-campground/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NY&parkId=706

Town of Clifton Beach Park, Cranberry Lake

This is a teeny tiny park on Cranberry Lake, just off of Route 3.  The park is right next to the Lakeside General Store, and you’ll see a little building with a sign for the park, and a covered picnic area.  The swimming area is small, but it is a cute little park.  You’ll have […]
