Lampson’s Falls

Lampson’s Falls is said to be a popular swimming area, and it is just off of Route 115.  There is a pull off parking area on the main road marked by a state sign, and you’ll see a gated trail.  Walk about 15 minute down the path, and you’ll find a ramp zig zagging down towards the falls.  Follow this to the end, and to the right of the small sitting area there is a foot path down to the falls.

This is a wide and powerful waterfall, flowing into an ink black pool.  The sand beach is in a sort of cove, with natural rock walls. During our visit the water had a lot of organic debris and no one was swimming, but multiple sources say it is a popular swimming hole.  There was a memorial for someone here, but we don’t know the details.  This is a park in the sense that the trails are well maintained, but there isn’t a ranger station or any facilities, and we don’t know if swimming is allowed.
