Platte Clove
The parking area for this location is just a dirt pull off, which is beside a small red building on Platte Clove Road. The parking area does fill up, though there is another one further up the road at Hells Hole Parking area.
There is a path that goes to upper falls from the middle of the parking area, but to get to the base of large waterfall you follow the trail that runs alongside the red building. This path is moderate to difficult, because it does get steep in some places, and has no edge in others. We saw children and older people getting along fine, but it is not an easy carriage trail. This was one of the most beautiful falls that we visited, and we did see people swimming, though the pool is quite small.
There is no ranger station here, and there are reports that this area can be dangerous. Use caution.
*** This area has many purported swimming holes, but we couldn’t find reliable directions. We did observe many people in swimming gear, and in our research we found some areas dubbed “Honolulu” and “Evergreen” if you’d like to research further on your own.
